Isn’t management supposed to fire abrasive managers?

Last night I caught up with Charlie Rose’s coverage of the ouster of Jill Abramson as Executive Editor of the New York Times. Rose played a clip from his earlier interview with Abramson when she was first promoted in which she told him that she was made aware that she needed to bring “good Jill” to her new role.
